Building Signs and their Uses
There are different kinds of building signs available and their aim is to attract the attention of the passers by to your business.
There are different purposes of the building signs which are mounted on top of a building for highlighting your business or property. The building signs are usually placed on the entrance of the building or on a higher level for offering optimum visibility to the people. You may place the additional building sign at other places to improve visibility from a number of locations such as parking lots or the neighboring streets. The business signs may be classed into primarily two categories - the individual letters and cabinet signs. The latter group is the most commonly found and they are rectangular shaped.
The cabinet building signs may have a formed plastic faade or a flat face. Usually, the faces of the business signs are adorned with the help of vinyl or translucent paint, although there is another option of making the face from materials like routed aluminium that has push thru acrylic symbols or lettering. The illumination of these building signs is generally achieved with the help of florescent bulbs that make the signs easy and convenient to maintain. The signs which are not illuminated may be constructed from a variety of materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and even high density foam. These signs are illuminated with the help of outer flood lights.
The channel letters are involved in making the building signs with the logos mounted on top of the building or the structure. These are very popular options as they come with a modern and clean appearance. These types of signs are generally required by landlords. Different channel lettering is available and they can be used to generate various kinds of effects and applications. The standard type of channel lettering is popular, being comprised of the aluminium cabinet like shape of letters and LED or neon internal illumination along with a plastic face.
The letters of the building signs powered by LED have a plastic face and the letters are perfectly suited in applications which require maximum visibility. The reverse or halo channel lettering that are used as business signs can be used with an opaque face as well as transparent back reflecting the light on the wall for creating the halo or outline effect. The subtle effect of light that is thereby created is perfect for the professional and interior usage where you do not need the brightness of one letter.
The halo or channel face lit letters are used in some building signs with halo bound illumination. The face as well as rear of the letter is illuminated thereby generating an interesting appearance. It is used in different applications like retail and entertainment. The letters may be mounted directly on the wall for allowing drainage. They may be mounted on the raceway at times when the raceway will be painted for matching the colour of the wall. This requires reduced installation time and fewer holes for patching once the design is removed.
